What's XO Doing in 2010?

So we've been a little quiet lately - only on the front end of things.

XO Pandora is back it at overtime working on several projects and bringing many client websites up to 2010! On February 9th Jacob will be hosting a Social Media Seminar the CalFest convention in San Jose.

The XO Newsletter will resume (we missed January) as will several other projects that we've laid the foundation for in 2009.

Look for some cool stuff coming out of XO very soon...

After a short 1 year hiatus the XO Pandora e-mail newsletter is back!

The newsletter will be a monthly installment into your e-mail inbox with special notice e-mails of online seminars and events in between. Our goal it to keep it light but informative. Our outline is to present the latest XO news and happenings, promote a service, talk about what's going on in the world of online, cover internet rumors and must know's as well offer some useful links to productive or completely time-wasting online websites!

Going to Vegas - To Work, To Work

XO Pandora will be in attendance at the 1st SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Online Marketing Conference November 2, 2009 in Las Vegas. The Conference is geared to the need to shift a lot of marketing efforts into the online sector tapping multiple resources. I'm excited.

MySpace is long gone, Google Ads has been around for years and Banner Advertising came with a HTML internet (yes it used to be all text) but now all of the paths have been paved and the case studies and whitepapers are out there for all sizes of business to adopt and create their own success online. Consider one Sunday full-color, half-page ad in your newspaper costs $3000+ and up. Who knows how many people will actually see yet alone act on it. On the digital side you can get a new website, e-mail marketing account, huge Adwords Campaign and purchase prime banner advertising space on target market rich websites for the same price and all of that will last you 1 year or more!

It makes fiscal sense, it makes marketing sense, it makes green sense. Your target market is on the web via social media sites, search engines, e-mail or their favorite websites. You know where to find them, we can track reaching them and it costs a fraction of what it cost to print and plaster the same message.

Oh No! - Facebook Is Down. Moving on...

This morning Facebook "was down." I know for sure because a friend immediately jumped over to Twitter and searched Facebook Down.

This will happen. In fact this is the second time in two months Facebook has hit mysterious server issues. The first time was due to hackers messing with the social mediums and this one is yet to be known.

But, what does this say about the state of social media and more importantly using social media to act as social marketing for your company and brand? Are these platforms reliable? Will continuous "outages" kill off popularity / trust? Are we wasting time by clamoring to the popular in false hope of bolstering business and friendships? Or D) none of the above?

My two cents: D.

Things happen. The Facebook team seems to be forging ahead with positive moves. As long as our information is not being pilfered by a hacker group and we all receive 1 million SPAM e-mails tomorrow, I assume these glitches will come and go with little to no remembrance of their existence. Keep posting, tweeting and blogging!

Note - FB is still down as of this moment.
